Dress #357 Brown Stripes

So this is a dress that I love, but I don't know what kind of a dress it is! Too dressy for most work occasions, not really dressy enough for a party, perhaps for a nice dinner out? A silk tie remnant, some silk and organza scraps.

Dress #350 Haute Chocolate

Just a simple chocolate dessert---er, dress. Recycled silk from a J. Peterman coat of many years ago, and a ribbon from a chocolate gift from my neighbors in Baltimore. Sparkles instead of sprinkles to finish.

Dress #303 Gold Leaf

More of my favorite little punched leaves, and an uneven hem as in so many dresses I see recently. Polyester organza, and gold foil leaves.

Dress #290 Aurora Borealis

The northern lights have been visible in many places where they are not normally seen this summer. I saw them a couple of time in Minnesota as a child, but missed them this year. I cobbled together several things to finally achieve close to the look I wanted. Blue metallic paper, black chiffon, iridescent sheer ribbon, and a brown sheer fabric with "stars."

Dress #237 Work Dress

Just a simple dress for work, when the weather is still warm, but we favor more autumnal colors. Cotton fabric and black paper substituting for ribbon---until we replenish our ribbon stash.

Dress #194 Silk Octopus

A dress for dancing in the summer? The overlay (which looked like an octopus when I was constructing it) will swing and sway with every move. Made from some lovely silk georgette that I've had 10 years or so.

Dress #115 Dragonflies

Traditionally, a border print is cut to put the border on the hem of the skirt. For this dress, I used the bottom of the border to fall at the waist of the bodice. The ombre fabric, combined with the border, yields a dress I really like. Fabric scanned, reduced in scale, and printed on fabric.

Dress #113 Measuring Up

I love how embossed paper looks and feels, so I used it for the skirt of this dress. Good for a math teacher, maybe?
