I made this fabric probably back in 1957 or so. It's from a towel with huck weaving or Swedish embroidery that we made in Brownies. I loved doing the methodical stitching but decided I'd carried it around too long! So I cut it up!
Yes, Kim. I've had them (there are two) for more than 50 years! Never, ever used them as towels, and decided that making a dress from each was a far better use!
My grandmother showed me how to do huck weaving several decades ago and I made lots of stuff with it -- mostly placemats and pillows but also a gorgeous acid yellow blouse with blue embroidery. It was totally unfashionable but I loved it.
As a former weaver, I love this fabric. Vintage chic.
