Dress #247 Purple

This dress is just a simple dress made from a purple double knit fabric. I think the belt makes it special---with its different shades of blues and purples.

Dress #246 Daily Bread

This is made from the remains of two different loaves of bread. I thought the pattern they made was quite nice. Day old bread from Eric Kayser, and a piece of ribbon.

Dress #245 Pink Pleated Paper

This short, dressy outfit is made of the most wonderful paper. Truly as soft as gossamer, it is as difficult to work with as cobwebs! I bought the paper from Marie Papier years ago, and this year it came back across the Atlantic with me. Paper and a bibelot from the local bead shop.

Dress #244 Gendarmerie

This bright blue and black color combination---especially with silver or gray---has caught my eye recently. New and trendy, right? Well, maybe not. As I walked by our local police station on my way home today, I noticed that one of the uniforms is this color combination. Satin ruffled ribbon, silk and a silver ribbon snippet.

Dress #243 Vendage

This is a dress that you'd wear to the party celebrating the grape harvest. Hopefully, in those areas of France where the grapes are grown is isn't raining like it is here in Paris tonight.

Dress #242 Bling around the Collar

There necklaces that look like embellished collars as well as embellished collars all over Paris this season. A newer version of the statement necklace. This is an understated version of the trend---bling around the collar of a little black dress.

Dress #241 Peace

This a lovely, lovely piece of gray and yellow cotton. The fabric is silk-like. Perhaps it is a Liberty cotton? I don't know for certain. This is a new acquisition from a fabric store in St. Germain en Laye. There was only enough for a small dress and a couple of more small projects.

Dress #240 Drawn Dress

I saw this pen and ink design of a wedding dress in window in the Marais. I love the sketchy quality as well as the overall design of the dress. On a lazy Sunday here in Paris, this for my dress of the day.

Dress #239 Pink Custard

Jeff brought home delicious little custards from our local market, in lovely golden tins. I liked the combination of the gold and the pinky/apricot of the polka dot paper. (I liked the custard, too.)

Dress #238 Twist Front

The twist front dresses must be so flattering---I haven't tried one---and I've not quite figured out how they do the twist. This one come close. A jungle print mesh fabric that has only been in the stash for a couple of years.

Dress #237 Work Dress

Just a simple dress for work, when the weather is still warm, but we favor more autumnal colors. Cotton fabric and black paper substituting for ribbon---until we replenish our ribbon stash.

Dress #236 Golden Tie

This silk is from a man's tie at Goodwill. I love the fabric and the motif, as it is just another shade of yellow and gray. A perfect dress for dinner out in Paris---with a black cashmere cardigan to stave off the chill of the autumn breeze today.

Dress #235 Deco Patch

In France, there is a paper product sold specifically for decoupage. I like the designs and tried using it for a dress today. The paper wrinkles more than standard tissue paper. Black and white is always good.

Dress #234 Pencil Peplum

I'm seeing lots of peplums in Paris---most of them much more exaggerated than this one. This version would work for the office, as well as out to dinner later. Cotton and recycled gold foil from Kayser bakery.

Dress #233 Night Dress

The text is an Icelandic lullaby, from the disposable cover of the pillow on our flights over here. Loved Iceland Air---I only wonder why it took us so long to discover them. The translation is:
Bye bye and hushabye,
Can you see the swans fly?
Now half asleep in bed I lie,
Awake with half an eye.
Heyho and welladay,
Over hills and far away,
That's where the little children stray
To find the lambs at play.

Dress #232 Ribbon Lattice

The sheer ribbon layers to make a new pattern, and I love the purple and green colors.

Dress #231 Euro Zone

The European Union money is so attractive. The bills are colorful, and the coins---at least the larger denominations, look and feel significant.

Dress #229 Silk Gingham

I love this dress. The silk micro-pleated beautifully, and reminds me of a David Page Coffin design from many years ago in Threads Magazine.

Dress #228 Oil Spill

For some strange reason, I've always thought of this fabric as "oil spill." I know that oil on water has much more of an iridescent coloring, but oil spill it is. Love the color combination---love the print. Cotton fabric from the stash.

Dress #227 Pleats Please

These pleats have a "flapper" look to them, don't you think? Made from some pleated fabric that I bought in Kansas City ten years ago.

Dress #225 Silk Paisley

This is recycled from a man's tie. I love how the pattern swirls and fits the silhouette of the dress.

Dress #224 Teacher's Pet

Is it subliminal suggestion if the teacher wears this print? All paper for this jumper and turtleneck.

Dress #223 Jeff's Shirt

Men's shirts are made of the most wonderful fabrics, and they make great little dresses, too.

Dress #222 Mrs. Reed

Named for my favorite high school teacher, this dress is nothing like what she wore. However, I think it is a great look for a teacher. Fabric, paper and ribbon.

Dress #221 Back to School

The Tuesday after Labor Day will always be the first day of school to me. New pencils, new lunch box, new books, new teachers---and wonder of what the year will hold.

Dress #220 Labor Day

One last summer red, white and blue dress for Labor Day. Tomorrow it is back to school--start of a new year---start of a different life, I always have these associations with the day after Labor Day, and this year, it is really true!

Dress #219 Sunrise

As we fly off to start another new chapter in our lives, I thought that Monet's Impression Sunrise would make fitting fabric for the dress. Made from a shopping bag from the small and lovely Musee Marmottan where the painting lives.

Dress #218 Lacey Print

The last of the summer sundresses, this fabric is a printed lace. I think it would make a lovely dress for dinner out on our last night before leaving for Paris.
