No fabric or ribbon today, just recycling a Tyvek envelope. The Tyvek is lovely to sew; I wonder what else could be done.

Dress #184 Green Silk Dupioni
I found a stack of silk dupioni fat quarters today! There's an entire rainbow of colors, too. So here's the first dress, in two shades of green.

Dress #182 Starry Sundress
A simple sundress---my favorite silhouette---in a starry fabric with a blue cummerbund. Perfect for an outdoor concert on a warm night, perhaps the Cincinnati Opera at the zoo?

Dress #180 Sack Dress
Do you remember the sack dress? It is a dress that hangs straight from the shoulders. This is another type of sack dress: made from a Trader Joe's produce sack. I thought it was a pretty color and had a nice drape.

Dress #178 Flowered Cap Sleeve
A different sleeve today, and I like the result. This is made from a flowered cocktail napkin, and looks very cool and summery.

Dress #177 Tri-Color Peppers
Just a quick and colorful pepper dress---probably the most expensive dress so far! I think we'll have this dress for dinner.

Dress #176 Linen and Roses
Sigh...I love this little dress, too. The colors, the print, and just everything about it. It might be too fussy for work, but if you change the belt and wear a cardigan, it could work.

Dress #175 Gray Linen
Just a simple day dress of gray linen---with a polka dot cummerbund. Linen and ribbon with ball chain necklace. Update: This is the only dress I've allowed myself to go back and revise. On 7/23/12, I redid the skirt and it is more pleasing to me now.

Dress #174 Greenery
I like the idea of lace overlay on a plain dress. This is an Urban Threads design, embroidered on tulle, and cut to fit. The fabric is more of the vintage hanky from Eileen.

Dress #173 Oriental Linen
A business-like dress for days when the temperature hits 100 degrees. Linen, ribbon and a paperclip.

Dress #172 LBD
Every woman needs at least one little black dress, in this case, it is a licorice black dress. The ribbon belt looks a bit like a licorice candy---I think it is called Good and Plenty. Candy and ribbon.

Dress #171 Linen Dinner Dress
My favorite linen again---and with black! The dinner motif is a small rubber stamp. Obviously, the ribbon is a favorite---black and tan checks! Of course, I like it.

Dress #170 Cork
I usually like making things of cork as it is tactile and stable. This piece was a bit too thick, but it is today's dress. Cork, twine and a push pin.

Dress #169 Dots and Stripes
Just black and white--dots and stripes---and a hot pink belt. Simple, but I like the combination. Fabric and ribbon.

Dress #168 Vintage Hanky
Here's a dressy summer dress---it might even work as a wedding dress---made from a vintage hanky given to me by a friend. Thanks, Eileen.

Dress #167 Nautical Sundress
Printed skirt, red top, and nautical looking belt. You could go to the Hamptons in this dress. (What do I know? I've never been there, but this is the look I imagine!) Paper napkin, vintage fabric, and a finding from the bead store.

Dress #166 Cheongsam
Experimenting with a new profile for today's dress. I love the look of the cheongsam, but have never known anyone who wore this style. Just cotton and some narrow twill tape.

Dress #165 Flowery Sundress
Another sundress. I think this would work for a summer wedding, too, if you had a wrap for the ceremony perhaps. The fabric is actually designed to be used for quilt labels, and I bought it years ago just because it was pretty.

Dress #164 Geek Chic
Most of you probably don't remember these computer punch cards. I was very familiar with them---most programmers and developers today find it hard to believe that we sometimes waited up to 48 hours to see if our code ran correctly. This dress is made from old Fortran punch cards, and the innards of my Fitbit which bit the dust the other day. In the old days, the rubber band was usually a bracelet---not a necklace.

Dress #163 Seashells
A bag of seashells from Cape Cod and some space on the worktable were all that was needed for today's dress.
Saturday, July 7, 2012
Dress #162 Dulcinea
A cantaloupe from Trader Joe's, and a sharp knife make today's dress. A spot of ribbon, and we are ready to go. The cantaloupe is delicious, too.

Dress #161 Sand, Surf, and Sky
Color blocking Mother Nature style---beach, water and sky. One of my favorite color combinations. Just paper.
Thursday, July 5, 2012
Dress #160 Lilac Toile
Another pretty dress to wear to a summer wedding. This looks like a sateen or a chintz, but is a paper napkin.
Wednesday, July 4, 2012
Dress #159 Fireworks
For Independence Day, of course we must have fireworks! I bought these appetizer picks for Y2K, but have never used them. I need to have more parties! Paper and mylar picks.
Tuesday, July 3, 2012
Dress #158 Parade for the Fourth
This is the dress to wear when you are the grand marshall at the Fourth of July parade. Made from a paper napkin, and ribbon.

Dress #157 Shredder
I was shredding a bunch of old documents, and there were blue and yellow checks. The resulting shreds of paper were appealing, and with a little Mod Podge, became today's dress. Recycling taken to the extreme.

Dress #156 Stripes on the Bias
Stripes look so refreshing in the summer---and it is definitely summer here today! Made from a striped cotton fabric.
