Dress #94 Cabbage Patch

There's something about bubble skirts that I just love. And cabbage lends itself to that purpose nicely.

Dress #93 Beaded Beige

A short dressy cocktail dress with a beaded sash. Good for so many semi-formal occasions. If only....

Dress #92 Color Catcher

Some recycling today. You know those sheets you can put in the wash to gather up fugitive dye? I liked the richness of the colors---one from a dark load, and another from a lighter load. The sheets become soft and almost felt-like after the wash and dry cycles.

Dress #91 Purple Pasta

Did you know that if you put food coloring in the pasta water, you get colored pasta? What fun! If only I had some five-year-olds to feed. I love this purple pasta dress---good for dancing, don't you think?

Dress #90 Red Umbrellas

This is paper from an low resolution image. Perhaps it looks misty through the April showers? Love the motif.

Dress #89 French Notebook

French fabric printed like notebook paper! Finding this particular fabric was my quest last time we were in Paris, and it gave us a little adventure into the suburbs of Paris.

Dress #88 French General

A simple linen shirtdress with red top-stitching. Natural linen with red accents is a typical French look. There's also a shop and designer called "French General" and this has that style, too.

Dress #87 Patchwork

A pretty pink, almost Asian looking print. Perhaps it is the peonies that make me think it is Asian.

Dress #86 Earth Day

Earth Day, 2012. Green leaves and soil. However, I've only seen soil this rich and black in northern Minnesota. This is coffee grounds---Starbucks French Roast, to be exact.

Dress #85 Denim Shirtdress

This is made from coffee filters dyed with ColorWash inks. Then crumpled and sewn together.

Dress #84 Paper from Fabric

Today, I photographed a piece of fabric with this wonderful dress motif, reduced its scale, and printed on paper to make the dress.

Dress #83 Linen and Lace

I love the juxtaposition of the rough linen with the smooth, feminine lace. In this scale, the linen almost looks like burlap---another favorite fabric.

Dress #82 Waxing Elegant

I was playing experimenting with embossing some waxed paper this morning. The medium is difficult to emboss---it tears easily. But I liked the look of the damask on the waxed paper. A lovely dress for a summer dance, I think.

Dress #81 Tax Day

Today is tax day in the U.S., so it seemed appropriate to use a $20 bill for today's dress. Does it look a little fat? Perhaps, perhaps. I do try to consider it as dues for living in this great country.

Dress #80 Leeky Loulou

Ok. So this one is more of a doll than a dress, but how could I resist the hair? Doesn't she look ready to tango? LOL, OK, maybe not.
Ooops! I created this on April 16, 2012 but forgot to hit "Publish"

Dress #79 Chalk It Up

I've seen so many chalkboard surfaces lately. Paper, paint, metal, vinyl, even fabric. So, of course, it occurred to me that if you had a simple dress, you could change the message as you wished! This is chalkboard paint on paper, and the chalk does get a bit messy, but ooooh, the possibilities.

Dress #78 Gone Fishing

My DH is out fishing this weekend, so I thought I'd make a "fishing dress." Surprisingly, I don't have any fish motif fabric, so I just used some patterned paper. Nice trophy fish she has, but I don't think even Isabella Bird went fly fishing in a dress.

Dress #77 Baby Roses

Another little girl dress---maybe because our neighbors welcomed their second little girl last week. It is such a lovely family. This fabric is the second oldest in my stash---I bought it in Colorado in 1980. I think it is funny that I can remember where I bought nearly every fabric/yarn/paper, but I've no idea where or when the mustard arrived. Thank goodness, fabric doesn't go bad.

Dress #76 Gray and Yellow Again

I'm seeing so much gray and yellow this year. This is from a paper collection (Authentique) that has a bit of a grungy look in places.

Dress #75 Red Cross

I'm sitting here feeling physically worse than I've felt in years. Luckily, it is just a cold, and I'm sure I'll be much better tomorrow. But what better for a dress than Kleenex and a red cross?

Dress #74 Eva Bascombe

Another treasure today. This is one of a set of note cards with this lovely pinky, peachy formal dress. The card set is attributed to Eva Bascombe, and the company is located in Jacksonville, Florida. I have no recollection of buying these, but I suppose it is possible that I've had them since we were in Jacksonville. Sigh, I love the dress. I love Jacksonville.

Dress #72 Spring Break

Are you going to Ft. Lauderdale for spring break? Or Miami? A sundress in Florida colors should go in your suitcase.

Dress #71 Little Girl

Just as a change of pace, I tried a little girl's dress. Love the fabrics. So many wonderful fabrics these days. This is from a collection called "Cape Ann."

Dress #70 Opening Day

Today is the first day of the baseball season here in Baltimore, and the hope that we'll have a winning season is the highest it will be all year. The stitching on a baseball intrigues me, so I made some fabric embroidered with that stitching.

Dress #69 Beaded D3

Oh, isn't this gorgeous? I've always thought that some of my daily vitamins look like little jewels, and today Vitamin D3 formed into a little dress.

Dress #68 Kwanzan Cherry

We have a beautiful Kwanzan cherry tree in front of our house, and it is just spectacular when it blooms. Some of those blooms became the dress for today. The dress is so fluffy and pretty---I wish it would last forever.

Dress #67 Lacey Sandpaper

The other day I was sharpening a paper punch by punching ultra-fine sandpaper, and the result pleased me. Obviously, it wouldn't be comfortable to wear, but just think: you'd never need look for an emery board.

Dress #66 Tissue Paper and Thread

Inspired by Isabelle de Borchgrave, who will have an exhibit at Hillwood Museum in June, I experimented with sewing and gathering tissue paper. Very tactile, lovely to work with. Not only that, but the dress is black and tan!

Dress #65 Pencil Skirt and T-Shirt

Is there any more classic, casual look than a pencil skirt and a well-fitting t-shirt? Not like today's dress? Oh, well. Happy April Fool's Day everyone.
